The American subsidiary of Subaru has distributed the first teaser of the new generation Subaru WRX. It is rumored to have a nearly 400 hp engine.
The only photo shows the Subaru WRX in the initial version without a wing on the trunk lid. Judging by the shape of the rear door opening and the body pillar, this is indeed a new body, albeit without major design innovations. The manufacturer prudently darkened the front of the car so as not to reveal all the secrets before the official premiere. But it looks like the design of the radiator grille will overflow with the Subaru Levorg station wagon presented in summer 2020.
According to preliminary information, the new Subaru WRX is built on the SGP (Subaru Global Platform) platform, which also formed the basis for the fifth-generation Impreza model. The manufacturer has not yet published any technical data, while the media predict a new 2.4-liter turbo engine installed on the Ascent, Legacy, and Outback models. In these cars, such an engine produces 264 hp, but for sedans, it is allegedly boosted to about 400 hp. instead of 300 hp the current WRX.
The official premiere of the new generation Subaru WRX will take place “later this year.” The exact date has not yet been announced.
