G70 Shooting Break

Genesis has unveiled its first station wagon or shooting brake based on the G70 sedan. The novelty was created with an eye to the European market.

The G70 Shooting Brake is a model that combines the practicality of a station wagon with the premium styling of the G70 sedan refreshed by Genesis last year. The novelty has received a strongly inclined glass of the fifth door and a huge visor. The manufacturer has not yet named the exact volume of the compartment, limiting itself to information about a 40 percent increase in capacity compared to the trunk of a sedan of 298 liters.

At the same time, neither the wheelbase (2835 mm) nor the length (4685 mm) of the G70 shooting brake has changed relative to the original four-door. The back of the second row folds in a 40/20/40 ratio; leather, soft plastics, and metal are widely used in interior design. Features of the restyled version of the sedan such as the virtual instrument panel and media system with a free-standing display of 10.25 inches in the shooting brake will be applied immediately.

The European range of the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake will include a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel. The characteristics have not yet been named, but for the sedan for the Korean market, it is known that such engines develop 252 and 202 hp. respectively. They work in combination with an 8-speed “automatic”.

Genesis G70 Shooting Break vehicles will hit European markets this summer, with the first to be seen by residents of Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Sales of the large sedan G80 and SUV GV80 will begin in June. They will be followed by the G70 sedan and the GV70 midsize crossover. The new G70 Shooting Brake will be available to order in the second half of 2021.

As previously reported, in Europe, the Genesis G70 Shooting Break will sell cars without dealerships. The main focus is on online sales with delivery to the customer “to the door of the house” and the brand’s boutiques in London, Munich, and Zurich.
